Know your body shape Know your body shape and choose a dress that flatters it. For example, if you have a pear-shaped figure, look for A-line dress or ballgown shapes and avoid fishtail-style skirts.
Colour Find out which shades suit your skin tone and hair colour and when you come to choosing your dress you’ll be surprised at just how much difference this knowledge can make!
Dress for the right event Are you having a traditional wedding or a more casual one? Make sure the dress you choose reflects your wedding.
Set a budget Decide how much you want to spend, then look in shops that have gowns in your price range. If your budget is tight, sometimes a dress is just as stunning and considerably cheaper, too.
Look out for ideas Look on the Net and check out bridal magazines to get an idea of what's out there, in fashion and, of course, for heaps of great ideas.
Start your search early Start looking nine months before the big day. If your dress is made to measure, it can take two months or sometimes more for the dress to be ready.
Think about fabrics Do you want a soft, romantic dress in chiffon or a more structured, corset type in a heavy songket?
Make the best of your cleavage Corset bodices give a girl the best possible figure, so if you want to push up your cleavage and pull in your waist, try on a few fitted bustiers or corset tops. They are simply amazing
Take a friend Take a good friend or your mum with you when you try for your dress. You want someone who'll be patient and understanding, plus who'll give you their honest opinion!
It's all about you And lastly, remember, it's about you. Not the dress. The most beautiful dress you see may not suit you. Choose the dress that makes you look and feel fantastic. And don't worry - you'll know when you put it on!
